Buckley user guide

Buckley lets you review and edit object- and field-level security for many Profiles and Permission Sets at the same time. Instead of opening each one individually, you gather them into a bucket and apply identical changes to all of them in a single save.

Open Buckley from the App Launcher → Buckley.

1. Choose your buckets — Profiles &/or Permission Sets

The left sidebar has two lists — Profiles and Permission Sets — each with its own search box:

• Fuzzy search — start typing any part of a name (label, API name, or Developer name) and the list narrows as you type.
• Regex — click the .* button next to the search box to switch to pattern matching. For example, ^Custom: finds everything starting with “Custom:”, and sales|support matches either word.

Click a Profile or Permission Set to drop it into your bucket — a checkmark appears and it shows up in the bucket bar at the top. Add as many as you like; every container in the bucket receives the same edits when you save. Mixing Profiles and Permission Sets is fine — Buckley treats them the same way. To remove one, click it again or use the ✕ on its chip.

2. Pick the objects to work on

In the Objects panel, filter to an object (e.g. Account) and add it to Editing Targets. These are the objects whose permissions you’ll edit — you can add several. Noisy system objects are hidden by default; tick Show Share/History/Feed objects only if you specifically need them.

3. See who else already grants these objects

As soon as you add target objects, Buckley shows an “Already grant these objects — add to bucket?” panel. It lists other Profiles and Permission Sets that already grant access to your target objects, so you can:

• Catch the ones you forgot — click Add to pull a container straight into your bucket, or
• Just stay aware of where access already exists before you change anything.

It’s your safety net against editing only half the picture.

4. Assign object and field permissions

Now the matrix. Each target object is a row, followed by its fields. The highlighted Bucket Target column is where you set what you want; the columns to its right show each selected container’s current access, so you can see exactly what differs.

Object level (the object’s own row):

• R Read · C Create · E Edit · D Delete · VA View All · MA Modify All

Field level (one row per field):

• R Read · E Edit

Buckley keeps your choices valid automatically:

• Any object permission requires Read, so Read stays on.
• A field can only be Read/Edit if its object is readable.
• Edit on a field implies Read on that field.
• Fields that can’t carry field-level security (required, system, master-detail) are skipped.

5. Preview, save, and undo

When you’re ready, click Commit to bucket. Buckley first shows a Review changes preview — exactly what will happen to each container, with grants in green and revokes in red. If everything already matches, it simply says “No net changes.”

Click Confirm & commit to apply the same settings to every container in the bucket at once. Changed your mind? Undo restores everything to exactly how it was before you committed.

Buckley saves the permissions you checked and clears the ones you didn’t — the matrix is the source of truth for the objects and fields you edited.

Tips

• Build the bucket first, then add objects — the overlap hint in step 3 works off your targets.
• Use regex to grab a whole family at once (e.g. every Permission Set matching Marketing).
• The per-container columns are read-only references; you only ever edit the Bucket Target column.
• Nothing is written until you Confirm & commit — the preview is completely safe to explore.
